Jaučakiai mound

Jaučakiai mound is one of the best preserved mounds in the Panemunė area, having a regular form. Its slopes are steep, 10–12 m high. It is thought that the Paštuva castle, destroyed in 1369, stood on the mound. According to the legends, Sweded built this mound by pouring dirt one hatful at a time. It is also told that giants used to live there, that there was a castle which was cursed and sank into the ground.
