Museum of Resistance to the Soviet Occupation and Sąjūdis Movment

The museum was founded in 2006 on the property that used to belong to the Movement’s Panevėžys group. The state-of-the-art permanent exposition gives a reflection of the resistance to the Soviet occupation in the region of Panevėžys over the period of 1940–1990. Possessions and photos of exiles and prisoners, partisan struggle, unarmed civil resistance, underground and dissident activities, the activity of the Movement and the restoration of the independent state of Lithuania is all displayed against a fascinating backdrop. The museum houses a virtual exposition and a reading-room. The museum also stages shows, educational programs and many other events.
