The parish of the Evangelical Lutherans of Panevėžys was founded on the initiative of the Count von Ropp in 1790–1795. The church was built in 1845–1850. It is a wooden building with a tower, gothic windows and portals. Rev. Antanas Saulaitis, then the Jesuit provincial in Lithuania and Latvia and his sister Marija Stankus–Saulaitis who resided in the US – the grandchildren of Rev. Rudolfas Lichtenšteinas, who served in the parish in early 20th century – donated 10,000 US dollars for the repairs of the church. The church opened its doors in 2001.
