St. Anthony's Palace

Kretinga Franciscan brothers decided to built a monument in honor of the 700 death anniversary of St. Anthony –
missionaries preparing educational institution. Boys gymnasium with dormitory called St. Anthony's mission college was built in 1932. Construction of gymnasium was supported by Lithuanian emigrants, therefore Franciscans determined to build a modern equipped shelter homes for returning elderly emigrants. Shelter home called St. Anthony's Palace consecrated and inaugurated on 11th of November in 1934.

Here were imprisoned and tortured Lithuanian freedom fighters in 1940-1941.
