Chapel of Saint George

In the southern part of Kretinga parish the old cemetery a small wooden chapel is mentioned from the beggining of XIX century. In its place stone chapel was built in 1831-1839 by parishers and was named by Saint George chapel in 1857. Remains of Kretinga earl Juozapas Tiškevičius were embalmed here untill new chapel-mousomeul was built in 1893.
Soviet army artillery destroyed the chapel in 1944. For several decades the ruins were abandoned but parishers rebuilt chapel in 1989-1990.
